Summer Movie Season Kicks Off With Thor May 9, 2011
You may have been one of the millions of people who started off the summer blockbuster movie season this weekend by seeing Thor at your local movie theater. Or maybe you can't wait until later this month for the next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series for more of Captain Jack Sparrow's adventures. Super hero fans have plenty to look forward to this summer - besides Thor, the Green Lantern and Captain America will also be hitting the big screen for the first time this summer, and X-Men: First Class will show where Professor Xavier and Magneto got their start.
Ever since Jaws came out in June of 1975, it has been a Hollywood tradition to release all the big, fun, popcorn chomping movies during the summer months. With the kids off of school and the temperature climbing, summer is a great time to escape into the air conditioned comfort of your local cinema for a few hours. Here's a list of some of this summer's most anticipated new films:

But maybe you're someone who prefers to enjoy movies in the comfort of your own home where you don't have to worry about being disturbed by whispers, cell phones, and crying babies. With all of the excellent home theater options available, and the ease of movie rental options like RedBox and Netflix, it's no wonder so many movie fans choose to stay home.
